The Mentoring Connection Academy

Mentoring Connection Academy uses an Applied Mastery Framework: a human-centered, competency-based approach to education designed with authentic and scaffolded learning.
Grounded in evidence-based teaching strategies, our model focuses on each student’s individual needs, goals, and demonstrated competencies rather than one-size-fits-all instruction. Through real-world, authentic assessments and thoughtfully integrated emerging technologies, we help students apply knowledge in meaningful ways while building confidence, critical thinking, and strong academic foundations. Just as importantly, we believe learning thrives through empathetic, supportive human connection.
We specialize in serving twice-exceptional teens and young adults in secondary and university-level education, especially those experiencing challenges in traditional school settings.
Mentoring Connection Academy offers two pathways:
- high-impact tutoring that complements a student’s current school curriculum, and
- full- or part-time online primary academic instruction for homeschool students through our private virtual school.
Our goal is to empower learners to grow, achieve, and thrive on their own terms.
All enrolled students and their parent(s) are members of the Mentoring Connection, and will also have access to FREE group Enrichment Classes,.
Students will have access to a private online classroom with course materials, assessments and learning resources. Parents are provided with regular status updates, instructor comments, and quarterly assessment scores.

All enrolled member students at the Mentoring Connection Academy are invited to participate in free group classes that foster collaboration, creativity, and community. These engaging sessions include academic subjects and go beyond:
- Designing Computer Applications & Games
- Art Discovery - painting, sculpture & more
- Photography & Illustration techniques
- Exploring the Animal Kingdom
- Using AI for Writing & Storytelling
- French Language & Culture
- Spanish Language & Culture
By working and learning alongside peers in a supportive environment, students develop social connections, share their interests, and discover new passions while enhancing their overall educational experience.
Our Mentors & Coaches
All instructors with MCA have been vetted for:
- expertise in teaching their academic or instructional subject
- extensive experience with neurodiverse students
- thorough background checks & professional verifications
- certification as a Mentoring Connection Academy Neurodiversity Education Specialist.
Our staff receives regular training and our organization implements multiple continuous improvement assessments & programs.
