Hugo the aviator, a parrot mail bird, delivering postcards from around the world.

H.U.G.O. ~ Human Unity Global Outreach

Virtual Postcards from Around the World !

The HUGO Project is an interactive cultural learning experience designed to help students explore the world through real voices and real places. Using a global map, students can click on locations and open virtual postcards created by people who live in those cities and countries. Each postcard features a short video in which the speaker shares what daily life is like where they live, along with facts about local geography, language, traditions, culture, and community.

Created by Mentoring Connection, The HUGO Project is especially meaningful for students with neurodiverse learning challenges because it offers engaging, accessible, and visually supported learning. Videos are presented in English, with local words or dialect included for cultural connection, along with captions or subtitles for added support. By connecting students to authentic stories from around the world,

The HUGO Project encourages curiosity, empathy, inclusion, and a broader, more diverse global mindset.

Hugo the Aviator

Hugo the Aviator is the cheerful globe-trotting mascot of The HUGO Project. Inspired by a Great Green Macaw, Hugo delivers virtual postcards from around the world, helping students explore cultures, languages, traditions, and local life. With his aviator cap and postcard pouch, Hugo makes global discovery fun, friendly, and easy to remember.

The Great Green Macaw, also known as Buffon's macaw or the great military macaw, is a critically endangered Central and South America parrot found in Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador.
